Community and education play a crucial role in saving lives as well as reducing the stigma associated with addiction. This was evident at our first Narcan Trainings and Community Discussions this summer in Marshall and Huntsville where we heard from Peer Specialist Kyle Brewer on the addicted brain, how Narcan works, and how to administer it.
After a lunch provided by the Arkansas Behavioral Health Integration Network, we talked with the panels on stigma, harm reduction efforts, recovery, and community engagement. Because of this event, ABHIN was able to supply community members, law enforcement, EMS, Game and Fish, and local health clinics with free Narcan kits.
We would like to thank all that made these events possible including the panelists, peer specialists, Boston Mountain Rural Health Center, Madison County Health Coalition, the Searcy and Madison County communities, regional prevention providers, and North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education. Together we are changing lives and making a huge difference in our rural areas! Together we save lives!
